520 _aRealist approaches to national security have limitations as they focus mainly on protecting a State’s territorial integrity and against external and internal threats. Chandra and Bhonsle proposed a comprehensive national security framework considering six key domains. However, it remains unclear whether national security has ‘one’ or ‘many’ dimensions and whether human well-being is a component or an outcome of national security. This study found that using a three-dimensional index for national security improved cumulative data variance by 33 per cent, and treating human well-being as an outcome of national security resulted in a 30 per cent improvement in its predictive capacity.
