520 _aLeadership decapitation is a crucial approach to weaken terrorist groups but the author argues that this counter-terrorism strategy has its limits and more importantly, produces varying outcomes. Based on several case studies in Israel-Palestine and the Malay Archipelago, the article discusses the need to complement the approach with other counter-terrorism strategies to prevent and counter violent extremism.
