It starts with an introduction that identifies the two main philosophical approaches that address this question "Essentialism" and "Anti-essentialism. And focusing on the war phenomenon and on the way these two approaches relate to it and the question of its nature. The argument here is that the essential approach is not sufficient in serving the need of militaries to understand the changes of reality and their critical need to adjust themselves to these changes.
