It is also highlights the role of third parties or leadership in making a difference in various India-Pakistan crises since independence. The role of communications variously conceived between the two sides during critical times. It looks at five crises in the two countries independent history and determines which channels of communication, were they direct or indirect?, were they engaged in early on in the crisis or resorted to later?, did key political leaders embrace communication?.
