Japan's currently muddled politics where the big tent parties are often hard to distinguish on policy grounds. The LDP has also been struggling with one flaw Koizumi didn't change, its tadition of hereditary politics. All of Koizumi's successors Shizo Abe, Fukuda and Aso came from political dynasties.
