The larger view is of a world in which improving standards of living fuel rising expectations; when governments cannot meet these expectations quickly enough or evenly enough there is increased risk of revolution. This article identifies how and why some countries are likely to be more prone to such unrest and why continued energy supply to end consumers (electricity, vehicle fuel) rather than debates about specific hydrocarbon resources is key to global security. In reality alternative energy sources such as Thorium are essential.
