Study of the rapid evolution of interoperability and the implications of this for states that want to continue to participate in close military cooperation with the United States. This paper sets out in non specialist language what is meant by interoperability, and goes on to look at the subject from organizational, behavioural, logistic and technical perspectives. Although much of the discussion concerns multinational interoperability (particularly NATO) attention is also given to intra-national interoperability.
