This collection of papers deals with different aspects of Russia's second war with Chechnya including warlordism, possible attempts at spreading Islamic revolution, terrorism and anti-terrorism, the long running nature of the conflicts between Russia and the Caucuses, and Soviet era repression. Other aspects covered are Russian decision makers in the combat, combat effectiveness, the use of new technology during the war, foreign relations during the conflict, and human rights in Chechnya. The book does not give a chronological description of the war.
