A study of Mao Zedong's (or Mao Tse-Tung) thoughts and ideas through his life and in doing so uncovers some aspects of his life and times. The author attempts to trace the stages of the formation and changes of Mao's thoughts from the May Fourth period through the peasant movement, the struggle against the Kuomintang and the Japanese, the Sino-Soviet split and various other events.The book is written in 2 parts in which Part I consists of his thoughts from the student and peasant movement up to 1949; and Part II contains thoughts from 1949 to 1976.
