The first half of the book provides a history of the development of Shari'ah Law, its application in banking, and a discussion of the difficulties that need to be resolved for Islamic banking to take its place in the global economy. The second part of the book describes the position in Southeast Asia and gives a country by country analysis of Islamic banking in Malaysia, Labuan, Indonesia, and Brunei, and general banking in Singapore.
