Thorough well written discussion of organized crime which highlights among other things the fact that quite a lot of 'crime' is created by governments criminalising revenue avoidance (e.g. illegal trade in legal goods such as tobacco products). Covers the transnational nature of such crime e.g. Mafia style, links with terrorism, the main categories of transnational crime, interrnational countermeasures including INTERPOL, the disproportionate use of enforcement measures against revenue evasion compared with other kinds of crime, and the almost complete failure of efforts aimed at supply side control (e.g. the U.S. led war on drugs).
