To help consider the future of APEC, 4 scenarios is given in this article that describe alternative paths the organisation may take: 1. preserve the status quo, 2. model after the Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), 3. an institution for Asia-Pacific security cooperation, or 4. a free trade area of the Asia-Pacific (FTAAP).
