<br/><br/> Until significant policy decisions have been delivered at the end of 2008, the Australian Defence Budget's financial estimates for 2008-09 will need to wait.  Furthermore, the financial complications created by decisions and performance since early 2007 up to mid 2008 means that the outcome of forthcoming white paper is no less important to the future shape of the defence organisation than was the case in 2000.
