This article describes how events have unfolded to date and how the state has developed counterterrorist strategies; although the state's efforts have been effective al Qaeda is by no means finished. Notes that most of the attacks have been carried out by Saudi nationals many of whom have trained in Iraq, Pakistan and Afghanistan.
