In recent years with the rise of globalisation increasing attention has been given to the security risks posed by infectious diseases. This article suggests that western countries and the World Health Organization (WHO) have combined forces to create a system that places fears of a contagious disease reaching western borders above prevention of outbreaks in the first place.
