This article analyzes how spreading democracy would impact four different sets of underlying motivations that lead to this kind of terrorism. This article will gain traction by focusing on the specific terrorist threat to the United States - Al Qaeda and its ideological brethren, it does not address how democracy affects the conduct of terrorism nor how the democracy would impact the causes of different types of terrorism.
