Indonesia and the rise of resource nationalism /

Recently the trend for energy and primary resource industries to be nationalised has been increasing. Governments see immediate benefits as their share of income rises but, with a few exceptions, state owned oil production companies have lower operating standards and oversee falling production. Shortages could even lead to resource conflicts. This article suggests Indonesia once again take a lead in devising new ways for governments to work with the oil multinationals to the benefit of both parties.
