This article seeks to offer a critique of the official rationale for the expulsion of targeted communities in terms of security. For the purposes of this article ethnic cleansing refers to a deliberate policy designed and pursued under the leadership of a nation or ethnic community or with its consent with a view to removing undesirable population from a given territory on the apparent basis of its ethnic, national or religious origin.
