The North Korea nuclear crisis and U.S strategy in Northeast Asia/ Gilbert Rozman - 2007

This article reviews U.S strategic options at four points during the nuclear crisis in the broad context of the hexagonal structure of Northeast Asia first, the fall of 2002 as the prospect of a crisis arose, second, the summer of 2003 as leaders settled on the six party framework, third the fall of 2005 when a joints statement was issued at the fourth round of talks and fourth the period October 2006 to June 2007 when the U N Security Council responded to the North's defiance with resolutions imposing with North Korea.
