Internal threats the common bond of Southeast Asian national security/ Dzirhan Mahadzir - 2007

As a whole Southeast Asia does not face any overall security threat. This article highlights two current situations best illustrate the situation: the ongoing insurgencies in the Philippine and Southern Thailand. In the Philippines the people's army and the Abu Sayyaf group continue to pose a threat. In regard to Southern Thailand the situation is markedly different in that the security situation continues to steadily deteriorate.
