The Indian prime minister cited the important and constructive role that Vietnam had played in the ASEAN and Vietnam's contributions for regional stability. A joint declaration on establishing a strategic partnership commits both sides to improving bilateral relationship in the political, economic, security, defence, cultural , science and technological dimensions.They also reached agreement on continuing strengthening security and defence co-operation.
