The Chinese ASAT missile test against one of its own satellites showed China could theoretically destroy spy satellites operating in low earth orbit. Government intelligence agencies around the world are now trying to better understand exactly what China's intent was and the specifics of its test and what future tests it might be planning. China has reportedly made at least three previously unsuccessful attempts with the same missile to destroy a satellite in orbit about 500 miles above the earth.
