Assessment of the impact of the December 2006 military coup in Fiji. Traces the roots of this coup to that of 2000 in which Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama (currently prime minister of Fiji) was also heavily involved. Concludes that the prospects for stability are not encouraging with serious risk of ethnic unrest as a result of economic and political problems.
