The spate of bombings and assassinations in the south of Thailand shows no sign of abating despite the generally popular re-establishment of the Southern Border Provinces Administrative Centre. The bombings in Bangkok on 31st December may serve to reinforce the military government, and suggest there are no grounds for supposing 2007 will be less violent.
