The Cambodian economy : ready for take-off? /

Cambodia's economy has developed mainly as a result of the success of the garment and textile industry over the past ten years, but the sector is now under threat from international competition. This article puts the case for parallel reforms of both agriculture and industry to move large numbers of people out of the poverty of associated with subsistence agriculture, landlessness, and informal sector activities. Concludes that the necessary policies to achieve these changes are not in place and that Cambodia therefore is not ready for economic growth.
