KIRKE Charles

Postmodern command: a contradiction in terms for the British Army? / Charles Kirke and James York - 2005

Defines postmodernism as an intellectual phenomenon, and presents arguments for and against the relevance of postmodernist ideas in the exercise of command above unit levels in the British armed forces. Discusses for example the merits of discipline compared to innovation, and acceptance compared to questioning, and considers the contexts in which postmodern approaches may be more appropriate than traditional ones.
