Blitzkrieg to Desert Storm: the evolution of operational warfare / Robert M Citino - Lawrence, Kansas: Univ Press Kansas,: 2004 - x, 418 p.

Described in the introduction as dealing with the search for decisive victory this book looks first at how Germany developed and implemented the enormously successful Blitzkrieg of the Second World War. Subsequent events are analysed to show how operational art evolved, where it was successful and where it was not. Covers the korean War, the Arab Israeli wars, the Indo Pakistan war 1971, and the Iran-Iraq war. These are followed by analysis of efforts to reorganise the U.S. Army and how it performed during Desert Storm. Concludes by agreeing with the German warning that there is no formula for success, and recommends the US should continue with large scale training exercises.
