The recent visits of Taiwanese opposition party leaders Lien Chan and James Soong to mainland China have elicited a wide range of reactions from observes in the P.R.C Taiwan and elsewhere. According to scholars in the P.R.C the visits were the result of new thinking on cross-strait relations.
