Discourses of war, geographies of abjection: reading contemporary American ideologies of terror - 2005

Study of three recent American books about terror, war making and national security in the USA. Argues that these publications promote ideologies"-which have been immensely influential in post 9-11 American national security circles, aim to prepare and condition American citizens for years of ongoing violence, war and possibly terror." By encouraging hatred towards enemies that may not even have been named yet, these texts make the prospects for peace in the 21st century more difficult to achieve. The texts discussed are: Warrior politics by Robert Kaplan, An autumn of war by Victor Davis Hanson, and The war against the terror masters by Michael Ledeen.
