The Iraq war, the United Nations Security Council, and the legitimacy of the use of force - 2005

Detailed study of the impact of the Iraq War on the UN Security Council's concept of "threats to international peace" and on the legitimacy of the use of force. This is followed by an investigation of the history of the debate about the Iraq War both inside and outside the UNSC to see how it afffected Security Council views. Focuses on the period November 2002 to end of March 2003. Concludes by summarising findings, considering thier implications for international security, and gives observations on how Japan should relate to the U.N. Security Council in future.
