<br/><br/> China's defence policy is strongly influenced by geopolitical strategists who are focussing increasingly on the need for China to establish control of the seas. This goal threatens conflict between China and the USA throughout Asia. Such an outcome is not inevitable but an American worldview shaped by globalisation is out of step with that of China which is based on a much older notion of grand strategy. America must not assume that other countries share the same visions when establishing thier foreign and defence policies.
