Introduction to, and overview of what is described as one of the world's most dynamic militant groups. Funded mainly by Iran and supported by Syria, Hizballah formed in Lebanon's Shi'a community in response to the Islamic revolution in Iran. Today Hizballah operates social welfare services, health centres, construction groups, and light infantry units. It is also one of the most radical terrorist organisations.
