This paper examines how indigenous knowledge is included in heritage climate change impact assessments conducted by UNESCO. It finds that while UNESCO recognizes the value of indigenous knowledge in adapting to climate change, its integration into heritage assessments remains limited and inconsistent. The paper argues that a more meaningful and effective inclusion of indigenous knowledge requires a shift assessment methodologies to better respect its systems, governance and rights.
