Based on his experiences Ritter presents a picture of Saddam Hussein, his rise to power, his ruthless hold on the military, his wars, and the ultimately unsuccessful efforts of UNSCOM to discover hidden weapons facilities. Ritter also proposes a way forward for the USA to resolve difficulties over Iraq.
