Unarmed forces: the transnational movement to end the Cold War - ithaca, NY, USA: Cornell University Press, 1999 - 406p.

Essentially a study of the influence of transnational activism on the defence policies of the United States and the Soviet Union and the contribution of these activist groups to the ending of the Cold War. Citizens from both Eastern-bloc and Western countries, among them prominent scientists and physicians, formed networks during the Cold War for fear that the US and Soviet governments could not prevent a nuclear meltdown. This book explores how these networks promoted ideas and policies that would lesson this danger and how important these activities were for arms control and disarmament.
