SHARP U S Grant

Strategy for defeat: Vietnam in retrospect - Novato, Calif., USA: Presidio Press, 1998 - 324p.

First published in 1978 this reprint includes a new introduction by the author. The book provides an analysis of the strengths and limitations of airpower in the Vietnam War, and the misuse of both air and sea power by the United States in that conflict. These factors, together with a lack of clear objectives and political indecision changed a decisive military advantage to a protracted and wasteful war. The author, Admiral Sharp, was US CINCPAC (Commander in Chief Pacific) from the beginning of the Vietnam War until mid 1968.
