The challenge of old chemical munitions and toxic armament wastes - Oxford: Oxford Univ. Press, 1997 - 337p. - SIPRI Chemical and Biological Warfare studies No. 16 .

In this study, 20 experts from 10 countries analyse the feasibility of locating, handling, transporting, storing and disposing of old chemical munitions and toxic armament wastes. Their history, physical properties, options for dealing with them and data on new destruction technology are presented. Chemical warfare agents and munitions were buried or dumped at sea in Europe after World War I and II. Knowledge about their effect on the environment is limited.(Extract from abstract included in book)
