TUCKER Robert W

The imperial temptation: the new world order and America's purpose - New York: Council on Foreign Relations Press, 1992 - 228p.

By analysing the Gulf War the authors demonstrate that America succumbed to the 'imperial temptation' to solve a problem by force than ignore the aftermath. They suggest this is not consistent with American diplomatic tradition, and is an approach which has corrupted previous great powers.
