<br/><br/> The paper highlights medium-term prognostications of what China's military transformation could mean in the event of potential flashpoints both within its borders and further afield.  In keeping with the CCP's own schedule (i.e., that the modernization of China's national defence and armed forces 'basically' be completed by 2035), this volume thus seeks to provide readers with a better understanding of the thinking behind those objectives and a better appreciation of the problems and prospects the PLA faces, as it marches into its tenth decade.
