The Chinese discourse on good governance: content and implications/

This study finds that the Chinese intellectual discourse on governance is a double-edged sword. It has generated some important theoretical rendering and practical designs of the governance reforms that the Party-state could cherry-pick. The enhanced governance capacity could help the regime build up legitimacy without convergence to liberal democracy. This article focuses on the following research questions: what is the main content of the Chinese intellectual discourse on good governance? What are the implications of the discourse?
