Currently 12 regional countries Australia, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, North Korea, Pakistan, Singapore, South Korea, Vietnam and Taiwan have active fleets with some of the countries in the process of expanding fleets or seeking replacement platforms, while other countries in the region are attempting to acquire submarine capabilities
