History of the international agreements to control, reduce, and finally prohibit the use of a variety of chemicals which damage the ozone layer of the earth's atmosphere. These culminated in the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer in 1987, and the 1990 London Amendment, and the 1992 Copenhagen Amendment. The author is an American diplomat who has been involved in these events since the mid 1980s.
