<br/><br/> This article examines one specific set of ideas about the value of the USUs the value of the units to the British armed forces. It looks at the claim that USUs are valuable because they aid recruitment to the armed forces.   Second it looks at the claim that the USUs value resides in their capacity to the inculcate and disseminate positive views of the British armed forces and of defence generally.
