<br/><br/> This article focuses on the extent to which the peace ark's goodwill missions have advanced China's material interests.  The article argues that determining whether China's gamble on the hospital ship has paid off requires that the ship prove that it can leverage its humanitarian engagements to advance China's larger foreign policy objectives.
