This article addresses how the Marine Corps War College (MCWAR) promotes strategic thinking. It discusses what the term "strategic" means with respect to thinking skills, explains the importance of this skill in light of the evolving threat environment and addresses impediments to strategic thinking. The article also outlines approaches MCWAR uses to surmount these challenges, and suggests how marines can develop their strategic thinking skills beyond the schoolhouse.
