Russian naval power in the Pacific: today and tomorrow - Canberra, ACT: Sea Power Centre, Australia, 2003 - 54p. - Working paper no 15 .

Although smaller than its Soviet predecessor Russia's Pacific fleet comprises more modern and combat capable vessels, particularly within the attack submarine force. In addition to a littoral role for the protection of Russia's eastern coastline, the fleet covers the entire Pacific and Indian oceans and into the Persian Gulf. In recent years attack submarines have resumed long range patrols and there has been engagement with regional navies. This paper looks at the naval forces, their bases, and possible future developments.
