Drawing on extensive first hand meetings and interviews with those directly and indirectly involved in religious terrorism around the world, this book sets out to identify how and why terrorists are able so successfully to exploit religion for their own ends. Suggests that irrespective of the religion in question one the starting points is religious faith and another is the ability to blame some other group or organization for real or perceived faults. Chapter three deals with JI in Indonesia. Concludes by identifying some underlying risk factors that predispose to religious terrorism and why the Islamic world is particularly vulnerable, and finally offers some policy suggestions for the U.S. government.
