Escalating clashes cross north-eastern Myanmar between government forces and an alliance of ethnic minority groups have undermined attempts to engineer a nationwide ceasefire agreement and cast doubt on the future of an already fragile peace process. Worryingly for the Myanmar Army, traditionally fragmented insurgents now appear to be co-ordinating their operations.
