The Ukrainian government , pro-Russian separatists, and the Russian government signed a ceasefire agreement on 5 September 2014, raising the prospect of a negotiated settlement to the conflict in eastern Ukraine. The talks resulted in a 14-point plan to establish an immediate ceasefire and pave the way for a longer-term peace deal.
