Joko Widodo (popularly known as Jokowi) has been confirmed as Indonesia's next president, and will take office 20th October 2014. This article considers the challenges he will face, which include local politics and the opposition parties, moving the economy away from dependence on natural resources, environmental damage, poverty and inequality.
